Duties and Responsibilities:

In your role as Account Sales Executive, your duties will include the objectives set out in this job description and as otherwise described to you by the International Business Development Director – EMEA and the UK Sales Manager to meet the needs of the business.

Principle Objectives of the position

  1. Responsible for promoting and selling online products to the schools market through Telesales
  2. Handle all direct new school enquiries as directed
  3. Manage existing school customers
  4. Manage territories

Objective 1:

Responsible for promoting and selling online products to the schools market through Telesales

  • Work with the International Business Development Director and UK Sales Manager to establish and agree division and personal revenue targets
  • Maintain a full working knowledge of Britannica products – features, benefits and any technical requirements.
  • Be fully compliant with Salesforce and keep it updated to a high standard
  • Call potential customers, present products, close sales for Britannica online subscriptions to meet monthly sales targets
  • Promote awareness and usage of online products
  • Up-sell and cross-sell the entire product range
  • Regularly review market sizing analysis against penetration performance and identify areas for potential improvement in each market
  • Promote and conduct online product demonstrations for existing and potential customers
  • Propose and assist in the development of marketing campaigns, promotional materials & newsletters to generate new business
  • Responsible for communicating all product developments to the market

Objective 2:

Handle all direct new school enquiries as directed

  • Handle all direct new school enquiries – set up free trial access, follow up,
    convert to sale and create customer account.
  • Responsible for updating market sizing, penetration and preparing analysis

Objective 3:
Manage existing school customers

  • Maintain excellent relationships with customers in your territories through regular contact to fully understand their requirements, to handle any problems and to help increase awareness and usage.

Objective 4:
Manage territories:

  • Manage your designated territories to ensure we have a good understanding of the countries or UK needs with regard to education, research local events and sales opportunities.


  • Target driven/sales focussed/sales awareness
  • Previous sales experience
  • Good negotiating and closing skills
  • Thorough working knowledge of internet procedures/protocols/security and commonly used applications
  • Commercially astute – understanding of relationship between revenue, costs, and contribution; understanding of public sector and private industry elements in school markets
  • Team worker
  • Confident and self motivated


  • Qualification or Training in Sales
  • Teaching or LA Advisory experience

Knowledge Skill and Abilities

  • IT skills, Power Point, Excel, Word
  • Good Presentation skills
  • Good written and oral communication skills
